Hay, hay, alfalfa...
Jul. 29th, 2003 05:57 pmI've started shadowing at the Dallas Zoo. Very cool.
Proudly, I announce that I collected my first cups of okapi urine last Thursday. Woohoo! (What? Don't look at me like that! It's a perfectly normal statement...) Not for myproject, of course, but at least it's good practice. All I did on Thursday was stand around for five hours waiting on the animals to pee. No, really.
This morning, I had my first day of actual work in the barn.
Halfway through the morning, I realized I had alfalfa hay in my hair, my boots, and my shorts.
Only later did I realize I had alfalfa in my nose, as well.
The smell persists, even after a shower. (Fortunately, alfalfa smells notably better than penguin guano.)
I am sorer than I have been in ages, have a large blister on my right thumb, and long for midnight, when I can go home and crawl into my nice, comfy bed.
I am happy. ^_^
