Once again, I am reaching the point where 1) I want things, but they are in boxen, or 2) I want to pack something, but know I will need it in two days. Frustrating.

But progress is being made! Took a load of old videos and CDs to HalfPrice Books today, and got $25 for them - better than I was expecting. Took a load of stuff to the goodwill. Told myself not to be a packrat and left unneeded cheap paper furniture by the dumpster for the divers to snag. Apartment is a little emptier. Yay!

Attempted to vacuum what there is of the visible floor, as it is filthy. It was sort of an exercise in comedy, because while there are bits of floor exposed that haven't seen the light of day in two years, there are boxes EVERYWHERE ELSE. Cats were very unhappy with vacuum, as usual. I am unsympathetic... in fact, I consider it revenge. They found the SQUEAKY BOXES last night and kept me awake till 5 AM, tromping around on them.

Sent in a few more job applications this morning - mostly internships, actually: One in the Bay Area, and one in Hawaii. Hey, I'd rather have a permanent job... but experience is good, and I still haven't gotten any phone calls from my other applications.

Followed up on my Alaska application: They've got all my materials and remembered the transcripts coming through even before checking up on them for me, which I reckon is a good sign.

Texas has finally realized it's August. It's frickin' hot.

Still not king.

I love geckos.

But I do not expect GECKOS to love ME.

Went outside tonight and found one on the concrete by the mailroom... a teeny tiny one, about two and a half inches long. (Hemidactylus turcicus, I'm pretty sure, if you're interested.) Reached for it to move it, fully expecting it to take off. Instead, as soon as it saw my hand it began to walk TOWARD it. So I waited, and it crawled right on, and just sat there, looking at me. Gecko: LIKE IT HERE. THANKS. Me: EEEEEE, CUTE...wait, what the fuck?

Anyway, I have relocated baby gecko. Practically had to peel it off me; it wanted to crawl up my arm. If I knew how to take care of them (and wasn't about to move) I'd have kept him.

Geckos rock. They are high on my list of things I will miss about Texas.
