The Captain and G.T. appear to have a new dog.

Last night while lounging around on the porch, we were approached by a limping, collar-less, exhausted Border Collie. Given food, water, and a blanket, he took a few bites, a few laps, and promptly curled up to sleep - but not before endearing himself to all five people around the fire.

General consensus is that he's somebody's lost housedog. There's a lot of new development in our area, and we're betting he belongs to a new arrival, got away, and now doesn't know the way home.

Or possibly I should say 'belonged.' Because while my mother and my sister (also a dog person) are making half-hearted noises about watching the papers for lost dog ads, they've already begun arguing about who gets to keep him.

Between the new arrival, my sister's visiting dogs (2), and the usual residents (7), this brings the total number of canines in the kennel up to a whopping ten.

Or, currently in residence at this establishment: Fourteen pigeons, ten dogs, five humans, four cats, two canaries, and one Australian diamond dove.

Hee. MANY CRITTERS.
