Dogs, Sympathies, and Electronic Laments
Nov. 20th, 2004 08:45 amBehold. I am awake before 9 am. I was, in fact, awake before 7 am. Why, you ask? Well! Mom and GT are out of town for the weekend, which means a) I get some nice, quality quiet time, and b) I get to take care of their PACK OF DOGS. Who eat twice a day. The first time being between 7 and 8 am. Ugh. I'd planned on going back to sleep once I had fed them, but by the time I got done, I felt pretty much awake.
That feeling's wearing off now.
I haven't kept up with LJ for the last few days, and did some catching-up just now. It seems a lot of my friends are, for one reason or another, having a rough week. Hugs to all of you - you know who you are, and even if you don't, if you're reading this and feel like you need one, take one! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
alliath came over last night after her rehearsel with a videotape I badly want a copy of. (Hah, THAT for your non-preposition-endingness! I feel so vindicated. Thank you,
troutqueen and
accipiter.) I was all prepared for dubbing, intending to use my TV-VCR combo with the VCR out in the garage where I live.
Silly, silly me. I forget that I am a wizard, and thus EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC AROUND ME BREAKS. This is the only explanation. Last night was particularly frustrating. After hooking up everything in the garage, I discovered the VCR out there was dead. Totally dead. Zero power. With a sigh, I uncabled the TV-VCR and brought it inside, where ten minutes (and the application of a wrench to some pretty old wiring) later I was able to hook up the TV-VCR to one of my mom's VCRs. ...Only to discover that the VCR on my TV-VCR is now ALSO BROKEN, and will not accept a videotape anymore. It was fine in Texas, but has apparently bitten the bullet now. BECAUSE I TOUCHED IT. So I'm feeling proud of me, in a morbid, murderous sort of way. I killed two VCRs in one night. That's almost a record, even for me.
Ali also mentioned yesterday that she thought Alter Code F was out. Gleeful but cautious, I looked it up on the GameStop webpage. Which claims the release date has been pushed back to mid-January. NOOOOOOO. SAY IT ISN'T SOOOOOO.
demonlet, can you confirm or deny this, so that I may either break something, or go and give GameStop my money?
