Blackberry cobbler = win!
Jul. 2nd, 2005 11:16 pmSome catching up, first off!
Thursday night: Alicia's going-away party for Kaplan, and a Wise Guys show. Much fun. Had an awesome time.
Friday: Met
storm_dancer downtown to prowl around and get some information for PortalFest. Had lunch at the best fried chicken place ever, and got to see the church where she and
dayoff are getting married. It's got such a gorgeous view! Plus, bonus: I got to check out the piano. I'm quite pleased. They keep it well-tuned, and it has a very nice touch.
Today: Went to Jones Orchard today with
whisperflight and
troutqueen. Much fun! We got some sun, and picked peaches, nectarines, plums, blackberries, and blueberries. And then raided the Orchard Market for preserves, boiled peanuts, and muscadine cider. I think, all told, we probably spent ten dollars on ALL the fruit we picked ourselves - it's incredibly inexpensive if you provide the labor.
The peaches are actually a little under-ripe, and while there were a TON of trees, the selection was something of a disappointment for that reason. OH, WOE. WE WILL HAVE TO GO BACK IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I've got mine sitting in front of a window, though, and they ought to ripen up pretty quick.
I got really daring tonight and tried to make a blackberry cobbler. It's not perfect, but it turned out pretty tasty. So very happy.
Tomorrow: I shall drag my lazy ass out of bed at a decent hour, and head out to
alliath's to help her put her life into boxen.
Perhaps I will ninja her some cobbler. <3
