EPOR strikes again!
Aug. 4th, 2005 04:27 pmI had another fantastic EPOR moment this afternoon.
( If you don't know what EPOR means.... )
I have been playing Xenosaga II. This game includes a series of equippable skills, some of which reduce the damage characters take from various types of attacks: Flame, Beam, Thunder, Ice, and so forth. From day one, the name of this series of skills has confused the hell out of me.
Flame Coot, for example. Flame Coot??? It should come as no surprise to anybody that every time I read this name, I envision a duck on fire.
But, Why the hell not? I initially decided. Heck, a lot of attack and skill names get translated strangely, so I shrugged and moved on. Until today.
Today, in an effort to whip Margullis' sorry ass, I have been endeavoring to level up my party members, earning skill points so I can buy them important skills to survive this obnoxiously hard battle. I also checked a strategy guide, and it suggested that I equip my party with Flame Coat.
....Wait. It's Coat???
... ... ... Ah. Come to think of it, that would make a lot more sense, wouldn't it?
Upon closer inspection, the game does, indeed, call it Flame Coat. It's just that the font is so small and blurry that it's hard to distinguish the second vowel as an 'a' instead of an 'o'.
EPOR, baby. EPOR, I say.
