(A statement through which I am probably showing my cultural roots.)

Went to Fripp to visit my dad for his birthday this weekend. It was a short trip - a flight to Charleston on Friday, and a return flight Sunday night - but a lot of fun. I got to hang out with my dad, stepmonster, sister, and brother-in-law to be. It's the Season of Awesome on Fripp: The bucks are in their antlers and mostly out of velvet, and some of the fawns are still spotted, so feeding corn to the deer was particularly entertaining. I have hereby done my part toward encouraging the delinquency of a minor. ("Here, little fawn! Thaaaat's right! THIS is how you harass people in golf carts to bring you corn!")

SQUEE. SO DAMN CUTE. PASS ME THE INSULIN. Fuzzy spotted babies are so precious.

I got home last night around 10:30 and immediately hit the sack, since today was a school day. Gave my kids their first exam. I'm about to tally the results. *gulp*

Libby needs washing. She has a whole speck of dust on her. Oh, noes!

So tired. May nap today after I've caught up on Portal posts, but before my Kaplan meeting tonight.

An exchange from this weekend, upon my remarking that I am more conservative than most of my friends and more liberal than most of my family:

My stepmother (to me): "Are you going to vote for Hillary?"
Dad: "Yes, are you... ex-daughter?"
My sister: "I'm not -- DAD."

This is particularly funny when you realize that my sister is actually my half-sister on my mother's side, and not genuinely related to my father by blood. She's only related in all the ways that count.
