Which does not negate the fact that [livejournal.com profile] shutterbugjones creates really, really gorgeous art. I went with a gaggle of folks to see her stuff on Friday night. Very, very cool.

The concert yesterday was awesome. The Captain and GT seem to be glad they went, which is gratifying after all the mess, and [livejournal.com profile] benma, [livejournal.com profile] stationary_jew, [livejournal.com profile] whisperflight, and [livejournal.com profile] alsafi came as well. Thanks, guys! I really, really appreciate it. <3

I was wiped after the concert, but Captain and GT had finally agreed they had time for my birthday dinner, so I dragged them to Mikasa for their first taste of Japanese food, which was fun. I had a great evening.

... until the Cap decided to bring up something that really killed the mood. So much for going to bed happy. Great, just great.

This morning I'm going to brave the frigid winds to teach my last class at STCC. After today, there's just the final - which I'll be writing later today.

...wow, what a boring update that was. Sorry, folks.

I had Cricket put down this afternoon.

She was 19 years old. I begged my parents to let me take her home in 1987, when we found her at the Cricket Inn in Albany, Georgia. I was eleven. She was old enough to be pregnant, which we discovered later. She ignored the box full of blankets we set up for her, of course, and had her kittens under my parents' bed... on their curtains, which she yanked down for the occasion. We kept two of the kittens, who moved from Georgia to Memphis with us when my dad was transferred. Leona died in 2002. Powder died a few months ago, at 18.

Cricket chose her time. I went down to the kennel to check on her, went ohshit, and fifteen minutes later we were in the car. And she was a cat to the end: Her timing was impeccable.

My usual vet clinic: (recording) "To better serve you, we will be closed from 11:45 to 1:30 for staff training.".

Dr. R's clinic: (reception) "All the doctors are at lunch from twelve to two."

Fortunately, a very nice doc at the second clinic saw us anyway.
