...Not that I get to relax, or anything. I've got class this morning, a plant Sight ID exam this afternoon, and work in between. Oh, and those essays I meant to have written by today? I only got one of four done. Bad me! So hopefully I'll get some time today to work on those, too.
But tonight
zoonut hits town in time for happy hour with the grad students, after which I'll settle in at home to work on my costume for tomorrow. And perhaps make (tasty-but-not-as-tasty-as-alsafi's) okonomiyaki, since SOMEBODY bequeathed soba noodles unto me the other day. *heartbubble*
In other news, I wound up discussing committee members and long-term PhD program plans with my advisor yesterday. I really only stopped in to ask about his recommendations for my course schedule next semester, but we got into the rest when he told me that, unbeknownst to ANY OF THE STUDENTS because it was never published, last fall they dropped the course requirements for PhD candidates who already hold an M.S. So instead of 30 hours -- four full semesters -- of classes, I have 24 to get under my belt before I can stop taking coursework and focus entirely on research - and only about 18 of those are formal course requirements. The rest can be seminars and such... which means I only have to take six actual classes. WIN. GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. (I am so gleeful about this that even my LJ post must include maniacal laughter.)
It's like Christmas has come early -- it really is. Particularly in light of the fact that I took three classes this semester. For one thing, I'm only taking two classes next semester. (I'll still be a full-time student, but the rest will be dissertation hours.) OH, GLEE. For another, after that I'll only be required to take one more "official" class.
Oh, so happy.
Also turned in my Genetics midterm yesterday. *gulp* Just got one more after today's test: Plant Tax (-onomy, I feel obligated to append to avoid traumatizing
stationary_jew), on Tuesday. After that...
...well, I still can't relax, precisely. But maybe I can take an evening off and play some Phantom Brave. 'Cause Dirge of Cerberus is calling to me imperiously, demanding to be played, but it's gotta wait in line. o/~
