Halloween and Cats
Nov. 1st, 2006 01:34 pmEveryone's been posting about their gleeful Halloween evenings (with the exception of
shadowstitch, who instead posted about people he wanted to die -- which is kind of like posting about giving out candy...) so I decided to do the same.
Officially, Halloween was this past weekend for me, at
storm_dancer's awesome party and hanging out with
alsafi,
whisperflight, and the gang on Sunday while we helped them move. I spent my Calendar Halloween taking a midterm and getting another midterm back (87, but the prof gave me an A- for my sins, so I can live with that). I DID swing by the grocery store on the way home, so that I'd have candy if any trick-or-treaters wandered by... ... but as the sky opened up right as I got home, with lots of thunder and lightning, I didn't really expect any. Good thing.
So in celebration of Halloween, I TOOK THE NIGHT OFF from schoolwork, made myself dinner, curled up in front of the TV, and went to bed early. It was glorious.
...I'm so old.
Now my most pressing project is writing my research proposal for the NSF Fellowship Grant. I've got to cram a disturbing amount of information into two (single-spaced) pages (12-point TNR font). Fun, fun.
BEST NEWS EVER: I don't have Plant Ecology labs on Friday afternoon for the rest of the month. The undergrads have to do data analysis and writeups, and we get to grade them on them in December. (And then we get graded on how well we grade them... creepy!) So gleeful.
Last night was one of those nights when I really, really missed Genrou. It really hit me hard. I've been thinking a lot about whether or not I want to be a one-cat household, though. I'm keeping one of
zoonut's darlings while she's visiting her family, and it's going to be sort of a test run for just how much trouble it's going to be to introduce another animal to Nexus. I'm definitely not ready yet, but in January I will probably start looking around for a Somali or Somali-mix kitten. (Got any recommendations along those lines,
hawklady?)
