Yay Weekend!
Nov. 21st, 2006 08:13 pmThis weekend I jaunted off to Houston to meet the Ewings and company for TexRenFest. There was much mirth.
I totally won on Saturday: Got free stuff at the faire, bought some Christmas presents, and that evening, we went to P.F. Cheng's for dinner. Our waiter misunderstood a joking comment made by someone else, to the effect that it was my birthday, and brought me birthday cake at the end of the meal. D'oh! Either he was just being awesome, or he really misunderstood - either way, I didn't have the heart to reject it. Also, cake. YUM CAKE.
Yesterday, I lounged about with the Ewings at their house, ate tasty chili spaghetti, had Paciugo (ITALIAN ICE CREAM ZOMG SO TASTY), and did absolutely nothing productive. Glorious. It was great to hang out with them, even if all we did was finish our respective books and ingest comestibles. :P
Tonight I came home, made a rum cake for Turkey Day, and decided to try my hand at cranberry sauce from scratch. I'm reasonably pleased with my efforts, though I learned tonight that a little bit of orange zest goes a long way. The sauce is a bit... ... tangy.
Just a bit.
