The Media

Two things popped up on CNN.com today (actually well before today, but today I noticed them) that I just can't let pass without comment.

1) The Obama/Minister thing - Wait, wait, what? Now we don't like Obama because his Church of Christ ex-minister is unAmerican? Didn't we dislike him before because he was not Christian but Muslim, and furthermore wanted to sell America, personally, to Bin Ladin? I'm not a huge Obama fan, but it strikes me that these two complaints are sort of mutually exclusive. Could we just pick one and stick with it?

2) McGreevey's Gay (By which we mean 'bi') Threesome - Why is this even in the news? Two people say it happened; one person says it didn't. But nobody's saying it wasn't consensual, so it isn't our business.

The media frequently annoys me.

And the fact that America eats this stuff up? That frequently frightens me.

Re-watching 'Charlie the Unicorn' today, I realized something that is ABSOLUTELY LIFE-CHANGING:

The opening scene, where the purple unicorn is jumping on Charlie trying to make him get up, and he grunts, "Please stop jumping on me," in a resigned tone of voice that says he knows it's not gonna happen?

The purple unicorn is [livejournal.com profile] storm_dancer.

Charlie is [livejournal.com profile] go_dorito.

So much makes sense now.
