This is kind of awesome. Begun last year in Sydney, Earth Hour is a movement to demonstrate awareness of environmental impacts and global warming.

And it's really simple, and really powerful: Turn off your lights this Saturday night (March 28) from 8-9 PM, local time. Or just turn off all unnecessary lights. Individuals, businesses, and entire cities have registered with a promise to do so, so this Saturday evening ought to be pretty spectacular.

Your friendly neighborhood treehugger strongly encourages you to check out the website and register! ♥ (But good luck getting to the website - it appears to be jam-packed this afternoon...)

DONE.

I just finished the draft of my seminar presentation. I've been agonizing over it for weeks, so having it done is like a huge weight off my shoulders. Even when my advisor sends it back for revision, that won't be nearly as bad as grinding out the original project. Oh, so happy! ♥

Meanwhile, a list of extravagant housey things that it has occurred to me I want to have one day:
  • A bathtub with feet. A really deep one.
  • Built-in bookshelves.
  • A Roman shower*. Oh, how I love them.
  • A fireplace in my bedroom.
  • Carpet that doesn't rip up in strips every time I vacuum it. >:(

Sigh. It's nice to dream. Now, back to grad school. :P

EDIT:

*By which I do not mean erotic vomiting**.

**Yes, this is, apparently, a necessary disclaimer.
