A Discovery!
May. 7th, 2003 09:51 amWhen I am TIRED AS FUCK ALL, I am not polite or restrained in my opinions.
Why am I tired? Because I was up until three last night, finishing a paper and presentation both due this morning at 10 am. Those of you who read the dates on LJ entries will note that 10 am is in five minutes. But this morning when I got in, the other two students (the ones who went home at eleven last night and went to sleep) were still working on their presentations.
So the prof comes to me ten minutes ago.
Him: "The other two want to have the presentations at 11:00 instead of ten. Do you mind?"
Me: "Actually, I *do* mind. But I guess I can find something to do for an hour.
Him: "What's the problem?"
Me: "Oh, no problem. It's just that I was up until three last night, actually getting my stuff done on time, and I'm very tired, and want to turn it in, give my talk, and go home and sleep."
So here I am. Killing an hour.
The side note to all of this is that both of the other students are working on their presentations in the graduate computer lab this morning. There are only two networked computers in there - why, I do not know, and can submit only that the graduate faculty as a collective cannot count to note the difference between two computers and seven graduate students.
With this math in mind, I can only wonder what sort of position we'd be in if I also needed to finish my presentation this morning.
So in summary, I busted my ass yesterday and lost tremendous amounts of sleep in order to finish up on time, so that the other two students would not be inconvenienced in their search for an accessible computer this morning while I sit around and wait for them to finish things up.
But I'm not bitter.
