Save Versus Cute... Or Die!

I have taken advantage of the Anime Revolution and my summer job, and am buying anime and manga like mad. Today I picked up some manga to read at work: Specifically CLAMP's Wish.
The cute is OVERWHELMING. The BIRDS talk to her - and they are BRIGHTER than she is!
Angel: "Why would he give me this [key]? Does it mean he wants me to stay?
Bird 1: Seems like it.
Bird 2: Isn't it great?
Bird 1: You should be happy.
Bird 2: Unless he's just trying to protect himself because you're so dopey...
[Next panel shows one bird with a wing slapped across the other bird's beak]
Bird 1: Shut up, you!
Bird 2: Mmmph!
