After a fairly long hiatus from LJ (again) I am back. I can't really blame it on schoolwork - though there's that, too. It was more really that I was downloading hefty chunks of fansubbed anime goodness, and the page was unbearably slow to load.
In the interim I have accomplished:
1) A trip to visit my friends in LA. Brazilian m-eatary YUMMY, Magic Castle AWESOME, La Brea tarpits both very cool and extremely creepy.
2) The dreaded Ten Year High School Reunion. The food was crap, the hotel was cheap, the bar was appalling, and the lighting was nonexistent. Despite an evening of shouting to old friends over music that was far too loud, though, I had a surprisingly good time. Evidence resides here.
alliath in particular may be interested to see how some of the parties in question turned out, ten years later. Am I a terrible person for being just a little bit smug, and a little bit horrified?
3) My first police-worthy vehicle accident, when a very nice but unobservant gentleman in a very large black truck pulled out in front of me this afternoon. Nobody was hurt, which is the important thing. Not beyond the obligatory set of bumper-car muscle strains, anyway, for which both my passenger and I were given ibuprofin and ... valium. (Benma claims I have reached a twenty-something milestone with this acquisition.) Poor, beat-up Azelin does not see the car doctor till Monday morning. In the meantime, one headlight is residing in my trunk, there's a foot-deep indentation in the right front bumper, and anytime I want to drive around I have to climb in and out of the passenger door, which involves some interesting contortions in a bucket-seat-mobile.
