This is something I desperately need not to lose. I could happily bury myself in video games and MUCKing and the Portal and being a total bum living at home. Well... no. Not happily. But it's really easy to get used to doing nothing, isn't it?

So I'm very pleased that yesterday I got a lead on another very good job opportunity. NOAA is offering six coastal management fellowships to recent Master's and Ph.D. graduates... positions specifically tailored to people with education but not experience. This makes me happy. The deadline for application is January 31st, so I'm working on getting an application packet together. I need things like letters of recommendation from college professors, and a 500-word 'letter of intent'... buh, it's like applying for college again. Urgh. But it'd be a great opportunity. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, I have continued to be a slug. Meant to get up early today, but I had such a wretched headache when I did that I went right back to sleep. Finally got up and picked up [livejournal.com profile] alsafi, and dragged her to the mall with me to be moral support while I got my ears pierced again. I've wanted a second set of holes for a while, and just never had the guts to do it because I remember it hurting a LOT when I got the first set done as a kid. (I nearly got it done with [livejournal.com profile] calypsobard when we were in New York, but chickened out at the time.)

I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Not only do they no longer use that godawful pressurized gun that goes 'PFFFFFFT!' at you and scares you out of your socks, but... surprise, surprise: EVERYTHING HURTS MORE WHEN YOU ARE TWELVE. (Possibly I should apply this maxim to emotional hurts, too, and consider getting over some of the things that have bothered me since childhood.)

Seriously, it was no big deal at all. Getting a shot is worse than this was. Giving blood is major trauma by comparison (and now I can't do that for something like a year, I think). Happy me. <3

Had vietnamese with Benma for dinner, and borrowed the rest of Fables from him.

For being a total bum, it's been a good day.
