I like travelling, but I could use a nice, solid block of stay-home time. I suppose I shouldn't really complain, given that I'm not doing anything else terribly constructive, but with gas prices as high as they are, roadtrips are not so good for someone without a full-time job.

Tonight I get off at Kaplan around 7, then head home, feed dogs, and hit the road. I'm driving to Edisto for my mom's surprise 60th birthday party (read: No Way 'Stine is Getting Out Of This One). I need to be there by about 3:30 or 4 PM tomorrow, so getting some of the 12 hours of driving out of the way tonight is a good thing.

[livejournal.com profile] spidersweb, sorry I didn't make it to the pool party. I'd intended to come, but wound up scrambling around all afternoon to get ready to leave town.

This morning I got up at seven, fed dogs, and - here's the real difference - did not go back to bed. Le gasp! Instead I mowed the dog yard (my first time on the riding mower - I feel so powerful!) and watered Mom's flowers, then finished packing and prepping to leave tonight ASAP.

Now... I will sit at Kaplan, behind the help desk. And since they left me nothing to do, I will clearly be BORED AS HELL. Woe. Oh, woe is me, for I foolishly brought nothing to read.

Feel free to pester me by comment or e-mail. My sanity, such as it is, will be grateful to you.

"Jane, just 11 years old when she died, lives in a $1.3 million exhibit..."

Okay, CNN.com. We know you're talking about a T-rex fossil. But giving the age at death, and then mentioning that the dinosaur lives? Twisted.

I am minded of zombie tyrannosaurs.

Hee.
