Peacemaker = Crack.
Nov. 8th, 2005 06:45 amPeacemaker Kurogane is insane. Officially.
It's a show that centers around a boy who wants to join the Shinsengumi, and so a lot of members (probably historical figures, and if I knew the history I would be even more amused) of that group have been singled out and characterized. What results is a sort of "The Shinsengumi Goes To College!" effect. This show makes my head hurt. It treads the fine line between zany humor - yes, zany is the right word, here - and a very serious dark side. If you crossed Rurouni Kenshin with Kodocha, and gave it the body count of -- say -- X the Movie, then you might get something like Peacemaker.
I say all of this based on two episodes, of course. But this is my impression.
I like it a lot.
The cast of characters also includes a gratuitous jaunty pig whose purpose within the framework of the show I have not yet ascertained. I haven't ruled out the possibility that it's the Shinsengumi's secret weapon, a robo-ninja pig of some sort.
Also, the ending song includes a very catchy tune and the bizarre line, You've got to fight for your money, How you feeling, Jimmy?
God, I love anime.
