Weekend in Review

How I Spent My Summer Vacation Weekend:

Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] demonlet made the pilgrimage down to Oxford with tasty treats, and we vegetated and consumed much calor-riffic food! *dances* She built me an awesome gummi ship (well, all right -- actually, she just pointed out that perhaps I should ASSIGN THOSE TWENTY AP TO SOMETHING) and we kicked butt and took names on the KH2 World Map.

Assault of the Dreadnought (AKA "We're not Star Wars, Really!") continues to elude my attempts to acquire an S-rating. Demonlet? We're gonna need a bigger boat.

Sunday, I got up at the crack of dawn, and in an extreme display of self-defeating behavior, helped my graduate professor to... rake the woods. Well, all right. Actually we were raking fire lines on his experimental plots. But it still amounted to raking the woods! Nonetheless, I had a surprisingly good time -- despite the heat and the sweating and the ginormous blisters that now cover my hands, and oh yes, OH MY GOD MY BACK MUSCLES, THEY BURN. THEY ARE SCREAMING AT ME SO VERY MUCH. It was my first time in Holly Springs National Forest, and the place is beautiful. The name definitely has some basis in reality: Little seepage springs come out of hills quite often, and even in the middle of this drought, there are rivulets of water breaking up the landscape and creating fern villages. It's like a fairyland forest - really, really beautiful.

I came home about ten, showered, evicted the seed tick clamped onto my arm, and -- slept till three. I love naps so much. I hauled myself out of bed and was coherent enough by six to run the Alexandria TP I've been planning online, which went really well, I think.

This morning, my abused body hates me. But it was a good weekend. I got company AND vegetation (the slothful kind) AND vegetation (the green kind) AND exercise AND tasty food. I win!

In other news, any writer-types who wish to torment themselves with the knowledge that the woman who wrote this makes more money than we do should click on the link. I can't imagine, having read it, that I would want to have this person championing my cause. *shudder*
