Slave to the System
Jan. 9th, 2007 11:05 amI have caved in to the inevitable: I get Digital Cable installed on Saturday (almost entirely so I can get USA and Sci-Fi). Gleeeee~!
Now I can watch The Dresden Files in late January.
On the whole, I really like the looks of it. Either the rumors that they were going to change Harry Dresden's name to Eric Dresden, in order to avoid the obvious Potter parallel, were untrue, or the writers thought better of it. (Yet why did Karrin have to become Connie? Lame.) I can understand why Bob the Skull has been replaced (?) by Bob the Eerie-looking Butler-ish Fellow (ZOMG TERRENCE MANN: Unspeakably awesome. The show gets major points in my book for that alone).
And I approve of the casting (See raving about Terry Mann, above, and as for Morgan -- hell, if Conrad Coates were on my trail, I'd be afraid.) ...except for the inexplicable logic through which the Powers That Be have convinced themselves that it would be a good idea to cast a tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed woman for the part of a short, blond-haired, blue-eyed cop. WTF. (The first time I saw a picture of her, I thought for sure she was going to be playing Susan Rodriguez, which would have made a lot of sense. But... apparently not.) But Jim Butcher apparently approves, so I'm going to try to keep an open mind.
Still nothing to do at work. Jackson staff are talking about coming up here to do some sampling tomorrow and Thursday, but I am dubious. Everything's still really soggy, and it is hard to wade in creeks that are, y'know, in flood. They do not so much fit the definition of "wadeable streams."
