Still alive
Feb. 6th, 2008 09:25 amThe deluge of tornados missed my neck of the woods; there was undeniably a lot of sound and fury, but no storm damage at my place - although I understand that something nasty touched down nearby along College Hill. The worst I saw was a few power flickers - well, and convincing my mother that no, I wasn't dying.
Warmfuzzies for all those who texted or e-mailed to check up on me - I feel loved. :)
There was some significant tornado damage in the Oxford area: The worst-hit was Abbeville, I understand, where some roads are now closed and at least one building collapsed. The only concern at present is that a co-worker hasn't reported in for work this morning - and he lives in a trailer in the Abbeville area. We've sent folks out to check on him.
Edit: They got within a mile and a half of his house, but the Sheriff's Department had the roads closed off - too many trees (and barns) down in the road. However, the word is that they've gone in and accounted for everyone, so we're presuming he's OK.
