Fictional Characters Meme

hollydb. Follow the rules and I'll give you a task of your very own.
1) Comment on this post
2) I will give you a letter.
3) Think of 5 fictional characters whose name starts with that letter and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

Her task was the letter P. Mine is the letter J.
1) Justin (The Secret of Nimh): Is it sad that the first fictional character that pops into my head is animated? It's hard for me to be penitent about that, though, because Justin is just that awesome. He never really caught my attention when I was a kid, but once I got a little older he's one of those characters that stood out as one of my favorites. For a character who gets so little screentime, he's very complex... and also capable of kicking your ass. I think the rats are in good hands now that he's in charge. Also? Justin x Mrs. B = OTP. ♥
2) Joss Whedon: I don't think he exists. (Please imagine this said by Westley, as when he is asked about R.O.U.S.es.)
3) Javan Haldane (Katherine Kurtz's Deryni books): It sucks to be Javan. He is King of Gwynedd for a year before he dies in a coup. It also sucks to be reading about Javan, because you know going into the story that he's going to die at the end of it. It was a tough book to read, and yet somehow Kurtz makes his short life a victory, and his death an acceptable price for what he gains.
4) Juggernaut, The (Marvel Comics): I actually don't know much of anything about Juggernaut. I need to read more X-Men. But the thing about reading X-Men when you haven't followed it all along is: Where in hell do you start?!?
5) Jabba the Hutt (Star Wars): Face it, we love to hate him. Who would think that a giant space slug could be quite so charismatic? Yet Jabba caught our attention (maybe it was just that outfit he made Leia wear) to the extent that he got to make another appearance in the prequel movies. In fact, one might argue that with the exception of Obi-Wan, Jabba was the only character in the prequels true to what we expected of him.
