Fieldwork and a solicitation
Oct. 17th, 2008 05:39 pmThis morning I went out into the field and got those samples taken. It was cold and wet and muddy, and that's what I get for planning fieldwork for Thursday without checking the weather beforehand! But despite the misery of counting plants in the muck, it was a gorgeous morning to be out and about, and it made me glad fall has arrived. (The bad news is that the thermal shock this morning may have been the last blow to my frazzled stressed-out body: I'm now throat-sore and sneezy. Just in time for oral exams - great!)
Shameless solicitation for Oxford folks:
So, my civic chorus is selling tickets to a charity sale at Belk on Saturday, November 15th. (I'm not entirely sure how we rate as a charity, but we do get 100% of the proceeds, so -- good for us.) The sale is from 6-10 am and only ticketed customers will be admitted during that time. It's a ridiculous hour of the day -- BUT Belk will honor purchases made the entire previous week. They will just hold your items and ring them up during the sale event, and you can pick them up later.
Tickets are $5, and entitle the bearer to discounts of 20-50% off on just about everything in the store. Plus, you get $5 off your first purchase, meaning if you plan on buying anything, the tickets are free. (They also enroll you in a $1000 shopping spree sweepstakes, but honestly I never pay attention to that sort of thing.)
I usually hate peddling fundraiser items, but if you shop at Belk at all, this is a good deal. I've bought one myself, and plan on going. If you're interested in this, let me know and I will get a ticket to you.
