Shameless Plug
Rhodes MasterSingers Chorale
Memphis Symphony Orchestra
In Concert
Sunday, April 5, 2009
3:30 PM
Idlewild Presbyterian Church
We're performing Handel's Coronation Anthem #2, Schubert's Mass in G, and Bach's Cantata Number *somethingmumble*. (Yeah, no idea.) Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from me or at the door.
I know sometimes I wave people off of my concerts (the Mass in B Minor is pretty grueling), but this one is going to be great. The Handel and Schubert are both outstanding. Schubert's Mass in G is one of the shorter masses written, and it's worth going just to hear the Credo, which is one of those pieces that leaves me exhiliarated and giddy.
I have it on good authority that although it's a struggle for the sopranos to stay awake during the Bach, the piece is more fun to hear than to sing. The other three sections are working their tails off and glaring daggers at us while we sing our little whole notes, so if nothing else, you might get to see a soprano get viciously murdered if you attend.
Come and hear! It's going to be great.
